Why We Represent Astondoa Yachts
These days there is a dizzying selection of luxury yachts on the market worldwide. The G Marine brokerage has made a focused decision to represent only the best European shipyards. We take pride in bringing top-quality vessels to satisfied new owners in the Florida area specifically, and in the wider American market.
Foreign brands are sought out by yacht buyers looking for a certain “je ne sais quoi.” European boat builders infuse their boats with flare and modern look. Astilleros Astondoa, located in Santa Pola near Alicante in Spain, is great example of a European yacht brand which is highly sought after in the American market. Here’s a closer look at this internationally renowned shipyard.
The Astilleros Astondoa Shipyard – Today
In Santa Pola, Spain we find a thriving business specialized in crafting premium luxury yachts. It continues to be owned and operated by the Astondoa family, incorporating four generations to date. Jesus Astondoa, the current owner and CEO, takes real pride in every yacht launched from one of their four production facilities.
Over 3,000 vessels have joined the Astondoa fleet in the past 100 years. This company founded on the principles of professionalism and outstanding quality has gone on to build a reputation for itself. Anyone looking to purchase a customized yacht these days is familiar with the Astondoa name, its stylish design, and seaworthy durability. The shipyard specializes in building entirely customizable yachts – from the interior design, to the exterior distribution spaces.
The Astilleros Astondoa Shipyard – 100 Years of History
Yet, this successful shipyard has humble beginnings. It was founded by two brothers in Portugalete, Spain in 1916 as carpentry workshop producing traditional boats. Later, the shipyard became famous for producing handcrafted wooden fishing boats and pleasure crafts.
This strong tradition of shipbuilding developed over the years, and through the generations. By adopting new techniques and implementing advanced technology, the company began producing fiberglass yachts in the 1980s. With striking design and innovative features, the Spanish brand quickly became a leader in the European yachting industry.
Astondoa yachts, like the GLX range, have won awards at a number of international boat shows and are still considered exemplary yacht concepts to this day. It has the widest range of vessels in any fleet made by the same yacht brand. These include sport cruisers that are 40 feet in length, to fiberglass yachts stretching past 120 feet, to steel-hull megayachts reaching nearly 150 feet in length.

“All these boats are manufactured in fiberglass, and the interior of some of them was done by Cristiano Gatto Design, who is a famous Italian designer.

G Marine, “Your European Yacht Boutique” will display a range of boats from Spanish Shipbuilder, Astondoa at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), October 30-November 3 at Bahia Mar, Booth #FG Dock 101-105.
Demonstrating the versatility of the custom yacht builder, four boats, ranging from 37-100’ will offer the boat buyer a sporty cruiser in the 377 Coupe, 52 and 66 Flybridge motoryachts and the luxurious amenities of the 100 Century. Both the 377 Coupe, an outboard-powered center console, and the 100 Century are making their U.S. debut at FLIBS. Since each Astondoa is bespoke, these four yachts will offer a sampling of boating lifestyles presented by the shipyard that has celebrated over 100 years of custom shipbuilding.
As the popularity of outboard center consoles continues to soar in the American markets, G Marine took the opportunity to turn Astondoa’s 377 Coupe, its newest and smallest boat, from an inboard diesel to an outboard gasoline-powered sporty cruiser with yacht-like amenities. With triple Mercury 350 HP outboard engines this boat can reach over 38 knots, cruising comfortably at 30, carrying a boatload of friends and family. Unusual for this size craft, the 377 Coupe even provides a full air-conditioned cabin, galley and stand up head and shower.
The deep freeboard (inspired by the shape of an Orca whale) provides for the spacious below deck amenities; the high gunwales also provide for the comfort and safety of the full walk-around teak deck, ample sun pads on the bow and aft deck and also for the 3-seated helm protected by a uniquely shaped windshield and T-top. Behind the helm is an outdoor galley with a grill, refrigerator and wet bar for easy entertaining.
The aft deck has a table between the rear and front facing benches, which easily convert to a full deck lounge. The three-person aft sun pad opens to a teak swim platform where a wide garage carries water toys and enables engine access, creatively using every space onboard. Storage space is also amply spread throughout the boat, including a teak bow seat with docking gear tucked below it.
Spanish craftsmanship meets technology where top-quality navigation and electronics join optional bow thruster, joystick controls and a sound system to keep the party going. A 220-gallon fuel tank facilitates a 200-nautical mile range and a lot of on-water fun—all in an easy-to-operate, sun-loving power cruiser.
For those who like to operate their own boat, the Astondoa 52 Flybridge is manageable with Megayacht features. The flybridge is center stage with L-shaped seating surrounding the helm, covered by a hardtop with a retractable canvas roof. The outdoor kitchen grill, refrigerator, wet bar and dining table, which converts to a cocktail table, offer ideal entertainment amenities, while the broad bow sun pad and Portuguese lounge provide breezy sunning space.
Teak stairs lead to the spacious aft deck where more sun and shade offer more lounging and dining areas. A few steps down, the submersible swim platform is fronted by a garage and rail system, ideal for launching personal watercraft or storing water toys, and it also offers a day head. If desired, the garage can be customized as crew quarters.
Also accessible from the aft deck via a 3-panel folding door, the salon offers an elegant space with wood floors, custom couches and leather furnishings that double as seating or cocktail tables. The galley can be placed forward or aft and the entertainment system links to the navigation and operation system.
Custom cabinetry in the salon, galley and helm is carried through to the three luxurious staterooms below, each en suite and each enjoying water views from the elongated windows.
Twin Volvo Penta D8 IPS 800 engines are standard with Volvo Penta D11-725 HP engines available for those with the need for speed.
With a bit more length and beam, the Astondoa 66 Flybridge offers even more yacht-like amenities, including an extra stateroom, a flybridge with room for a tender and crew quarters that can double as extra guest space when needed.
The latest 66 Flybridge was customized for a large family of avid boaters with a flybridge that offers generous sun lounges, yet a hardtop protected helm and bench seating areas. A full outdoor galley makes dining al fresco fun for all while the tender lift system facilitates water play as well.
Down the stairs, the teak deck is one level from the bow’s sun pad and Portuguese lounge to the protected aft deck. The space is livable and comfortable, adjoining the salon, galley and dining area which ads more creature comforts, custom built for individual tastes. From the deck, a few steps down, the broad teak swim platform can accommodate a tender or access to other watersports.
A full beam en suite master stateroom adds luxury for leisurely relaxation and each of the other three en suite staterooms are furnished with equally luxurious finishes, storage and comforts.
Twin diesel Volvo Penta IPS 1200 or MAN V8 1200 provide for long-range cruising pleasure for up to 8 guests and 2 crew.
While reminiscent of Astondoa’s 100-year heritage, the 100 Century is also totally contemporary. Collaboration with Cristiano Gatto brought an additional touch of Italian design to the Spanish shipyard so the quality of craftsmanship is matched by its impeccable attention to design detail, colors, textures and blend of woods, metals and fabrics.
The flybridge is central to the yachting lifestyle, as it offers outdoor sunning space with a louvered retractable sunroof for protection where needed, an outdoor kitchen, teak deck, elegant bar seating and a Jacuzzi surrounded by sun pads. Wide teak walkways give a spacious feel and total walk-around comfort and access to the bow sun pads and Portuguese lounge with a Bimini cover.
The helm stations above and below feature the latest in navigation and operational technologies, all built-into custom-constructed cabinetry of the highest quality and finishes. Likewise, all the furnishings in the adjacent salon, formal dining space with floor-to-ceiling windows, showcase Astondoa’s craftsmanship and Cristiano Gatto’s décor specifications. A full galley is discreetly located forward of the living space for easy access.
The below-deck four staterooms are spacious, elegant and replete with storage and luxurious en suite heads. The full-beam master is on the main deck and includes a generous closet space, vanity table, lounges and his and her sinks in the customized head. Twelve guests can be comfortably ensconced in luxury accommodations and five crew members are also accommodated.
As in all Astondoa engine rooms, stainless steel gleams, housing twin 2,186 HP MTU 16 V 2000 M86 engines, and an option for the 200 M96 engine producing 2400 HP is also available. A 2,880-gallon fuel tank provides considerable range.

Doesn’t Fido deserve a day off too? Of course you want to take your best friend out on the boat. But there are some key steps you should take to make sure that he stays safe and ahs a great day on the water as well.
7 STEPS TO PET SAFETY ONBOARD
We’ve made a list of the top seven ways to take care of your pet while cruising. Most of these tips are for dog owners, but the same principles apply for any type of animal.
1. PREPARE FOR CRUISING AHEAD OF TIME.
Before stepping onto the boat there are a few things you should do to help ensure the safety of your dog.
- Most dogs love the water, but not all. Practice swimming with your dog. Understand what he feels comfortable doing in the water and what causes anxiety. For example, some dogs avoid waves or open water.
- Practice getting your dog safely from the pier onto the boat. It’s best to use a walkway so that he can walk onboard himself. Never let your dog jump onto the boat as it’s easy to slip and injur himself.
- Develop a plan for how to rescue the dog in case he goes overboard. Share this plan with others on the boat.
2. LET YOUR DOG GET COMFORTABLE ONBOARD.
Let your dog get familiar with the boat before turning it on or going anywhere. He should be comfortable spending time there while the boat is docked and conditions are stable. Take a few short trips with your dog onboard in preparation for longer cruises. Look for signs that your dog is feeling seasick.
3. HAVE YOUR PET WEAR A LIFE JACKET.
Protect your dog in case he goes for a swim or accidentally goes overboard by buckling him up in a life jacket. Even dogs that are good swimmers should have a specially designed floatation device that fits well. This will keep your pet afloat even if the weather conditions change or there are strong currents. Make sure you try out the jacket before heading out.
4. COME ONBOARD PREPARED.
Here’s what you should always have on hand when there are pets onboard:
- A first-aid kit with any medications that your dog might need if he gets hurt. It should also include veterinary medicine for motion sickness and eye drops in case something in the water irritates this delicate part.
- Because pets can get sunburns too, sunblock is recommended for light or thin-haired breeds. There are special sunscreens made for dogs, which are made without zinc, a toxic substance for animals. Apply this to your pet’s ears, snout and other place where skin is visible.
- Bring waste bags and puppy pads to clean up messes while out on the water.
5. KEEP FRESH DRINKING WATER AVAILABLE.
Hydration is always important when boating. The heat, salty water, wind and panting can quickly dry a dog’s tongue out and lead to dehydration. Make sure to have a water bowl always available and that your dog knows where he can go to drink.
6. SIT. STAY. GOOD BOY!
Dogs shouldn’t wander around the boat or go near the bow while your cruising. Waves, wet spots on the deck and movement from navigating can easily cause them to loose their balance. Locate an area on the boat where your dog can safely stay while the boat is running. It should be on the floor of the boat and have plenty of shade. Provide a mat which will make him feel at home. Make sure that the deck in this area provides enough traction for your dog to sit and stand without slipping.
7. SAFETY FIRST ON THE WATER.
It’s possible for dogs to drown. So, keep your dog in sight whenever he swims. Never throw him. It’s better to let him jump in for a swim or choose to stay onboard.
